Products that work well together

Softness and scent for laundry

A concentrated softener for laundry.

When choosing a softener, the feel you want from the fabric matters as much as the scent. This product's purpose is to soften the fibres and give them flexibility. Its scent, described as Soft, is part of how the laundry smells after washing; do not read the product as unscented or perfume-free.

How much softener you use affects how many washes you get from the pack. When assessing the 1000 ml pack, consider not only the 40 washes stated on it but also the number of millilitres you will actually use. A tip: base your drying and ironing decisions after washing on the fabric's own care instructions, independently of the softener you use.

Softness in the laundry

It is used to give fabric softness after washing. On special fabrics in particular, check that the care label allows the use of fabric softener. It does not replace the sprays used for stain removal.

Follow the fabric's care instructions

Even when you use softener, choose the ironing, drying and washing conditions according to the fabric's label. Using the product does not mean ironing becomes unnecessary or that the care conditions change.

40 washes at 25 ml

At 25 ml per wash, the 1000 ml pack lasts 40 washes. At a 40 ml measure you get 25 uses, and at 50 ml, 20. These figures are simply the pack size divided by the dose used; for choosing your dose, follow the current instructions on the pack.

How to apply it

Set the measure according to your pack

Check the care information for your fabric and the current dosage instructions on the product you have, together.

The number of uses from a one-litre pack changes with the millilitres measured out per wash.
The number of uses from a one-litre pack changes with the millilitres measured out per wash.
  1. Check the fabric's care label

A tip: look at the care labels on garments and household textiles to see whether there is any restriction on fabric softener. The fact that the product is a softener does not make it automatically suitable for every special fabric.

  2. Go by the amount on the pack

Check the 25 ml base measure for 4–5 kg against the capacity and dosage instructions on your own pack. If your conditions call for a different amount, follow the pack's recommendation; do not change the measure just to hit the 40-wash figure.

  3. Measure in millilitres

Measure the amount you have chosen; if you do not know the volume of the cap, do not assume one capful equals 25 ml. Follow your machine's guidance on the use of fabric softener.

  4. Read the number of uses from the dose

The 40-wash figure only applies when 25 ml is used per wash. If you use a higher amount, allow for the same one-litre pack lasting fewer washes.

The current dosage and usage instructions on the product's pack take precedence. Soft is a scent description; it is not a claim that the product is unscented or suitable for any particular skin sensitivity.

Choosing a product

Frequently asked questions.

Does one litre really last 40 washes?

At 25 ml per wash, a 1000 ml pack corresponds to 40 washes. If the amount used is 40 ml the figure is 25 washes; at 50 ml it is 20. Work out the amount you need from the pack instructions and judge the number of uses accordingly.

Is it an unscented softener?

No. This product's scent is described as Soft. Soft does not mean unscented or perfume-free. If you have a particular preference about scent, take this into account before buying; do not read the scent description as an assurance about skin sensitivity.

Does it remove the need to iron altogether?

Using a softener does not mean the need to iron disappears completely for every fabric. The garment's drying and ironing instructions must be assessed separately. A tip: choose the product for how the laundry feels; work out whether ironing is needed, and at what temperature, from the fabric's care label.

What amount should I use for a 4–5 kg machine?

The base measure for 4–5 kg is 25 ml. If the pack you have recommends a different amount for your conditions, follow that. At 25 ml per wash, one litre corresponds to 40 washes; at a higher dose the number of uses falls.

What difference does it being concentrated make?

With a concentrated product, the measure matters. Using 50 ml instead of 25 ml, for instance, halves the calculated number of uses from a one-litre pack. So rather than counting capfuls, follow the measure in millilitres and the current recommendation on the pack.
